The lovely girl had shrunk to a height of about three and a half feet, and her stature had changed significantly, giving her an appearance not unlike a hunchback. Her arms had begun to change into wings, growing in length and shifting proportions, and her hands were unrecognizable as such. Some of her toes had fused together and what remained had grown significantly in length. As for her once-beautiful face, her nose now had a severe point to it and had begun to fuse with her mouth, and her eyes had begun to shrink and move to the sides of her head, and had gone completely black, now appearing quite animalistic. Her ears were nearly gone, and though her hair had fallen out, she had sprouted fine brown feathers all over her body.
At once she tried to take a step, as she had never really stopped walking, dazedly following the faeries, but she tripped rather immediately on her dress, which remained on, just barely, but was far too long, the skirt gathered at her feet. However, she was still rather out of it, pacified by the faeries' song, and she lay serenely on the ground where she had fallen. Every one of the fair folk gasped in horror, and Amaralis cried, "What a wretched ugly thing! Belboz, what have you done?" Belboz
