Fortunately for Stacy's nerves, as they continued on their journey they did not hear anything else that sounded threatening. Though it was some comfort to her to reflect that if they did encounter anything, Astra would probably deal with it with the same calm efficiency as she had the first creature. They did occasionally see birds with colourful plumage flying high overhead, but as far as Stacy could judge they were small and they took no interest in Astra and herself.
This world's gravity and its atmosphere's oxygen content seemed very similar to those of Earth, as she did not feel any heavier or lighter than usual and did not suffer any shortness of breath. She had thought that the heat and humidity might be a problem, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the overall seemed to be doing a very good job of keeping her cool. She was feeling increasingly thirsty, though, and when Astra paused after an hour or two to take a drink from the river she decided to risk doing the same. The water had no noticeable taste, which she took as a good sign. When they resumed walking, she decided that this was as good a time as any to raise something that had been niggling at her ever since their meeting with Lord Revenant. "Astra, how is it that Lord whatsisname knew who you were and that you're a princess?" "It wasn't the first time that I'd visited the space station, and I haven't made any secret of my identity. Revenant must have had one of his people on board, reporting back to him on new arrivals. Whoever it was might even have taken a picture of me without my knowledge." "So why did Revenant accuse you of being a spy?"
