From somewhere in the jungle, there was an unearthly noise, like a cross between the howl of a wolf and the trumpeting of an elephant. Stacy stopped dead in her tracks and peered into the dense growth.
There was a crunching and crashing noise that got louder. Stacy saw a dark shape through the thick vegetation, pushing aside branches and bending entire trees and then suddenly a huge beat burst from the jungle. It had a huge grey body with heavy legs that ended in giant clawed feet. It had a head shaped like a bulldog but scaly like a lizard with large, bulbous eyes. It had numerous horns protruding from his head, caked in mud and blood. It opened it mouth and roared, huge fangs like giant curved swords, dripping with slime, muscles bulging like steel cables. Stacy's eyes widened in terror, sheer panic rooting her to the spot. Her legs felt like lead but she managed to take a step backwards and promptly tripped on a root, falling on her back. The creature loomed over her, teeth bared and glistening and she let out a scream. Astra stood with one hand on her hip. She casually lifted her rifle and fired, killing the beast with a single head shot. "Come on," she said, sounding almost bored. "If we get a move on we can get to the town before lunchtime." Stacy looked at the huge creature slumped on front of her, black blood oozing from the hole in the side of its head. Then she looked at Astra, ambling off without even looking back. Stacy got herself to her feet, dusted herself off and hurried after Astra.
