Stacy found herself on a sidewalk of the futuristic Tokyo, still arm in arm with Astra. It was raining steadily but, dressed in latex and lycra as she was, she supposed that it didn't really matter if she got wet. Though it was night, the street lighting was so brilliant that it was actually brighter than it had been back in the office in New York. Though there were lots of pedestrians, nobody seemed to have noticed the pair of them seemingly appear out of thin air, or if they had then they disguised their surprise well.
"Don't worry if you don't speak Japanese," Astra reassured her, releasing her arm. "Almost everyone here should speak at least a little English." But it wasn't that that was worrying Stacy. "I've just realised that you didn't bring your computer with you," she said. "How are we going to get back?" "Don't worry. Remember I said that safe travel was between gateway stations? There'll be one very close by, or this wouldn't have been flagged up as a possible destination. We can use it to return home when we are ready to leave." "So where is this gateway station?"
