She noticed another, smaller, tattoo on the inside of her thigh. She recalled that Jacob had said that gang members had additional symbols hidden somewhere less obvious, signifying rank and function. The tattoo was high up at the very top of her left leg and she had to crane her neck to even see it. It was a line of Japanese-looking characters followed by numbers. She read them off out loud.
"40-42-11-" She stopped. The numbers ran up off the top of her leg and the remaining numbers were obscured by her pubic hair and she couldn't make out the other numbers. She tugged at her pubes and managed to read another number. "40-42-11-74-" It was no use. The hair got too thick and she couldn't move her head near enough to see the small writing hidden by her hair. Tried moving nearer, stretching like she was doing some strange yoga move but it was futile. What could those numbers mean anyway even if she did read them all? Maybe she could translate the Japanese at least.
