"I couldn't stop," replied Hannah honestly, the words tumbling out of her mouth without her permission. "I just... love being a mother. And no, I'm not; my husband Henry died two years ago." "You just love being a mother." Elgorim regarded her. "Is that really all there is to it?" "No," Hannah barreled on, "a wizard actually cast a spell on me to make me feel this way. It was wonderful when Henry was alive but since he's gone there's this huge hole in my life. I need to keep having children." Elgorim seemed shocked, but not appalled. "Why would a wizard want you to have so many children?" Fortunately the only children who were in earshot were some of the youngest, not paying any attention at all. "I used to be a man. A knight called Sir Fred. He trapped me like this so I could not complete my quest to slay the dragon. He thought it was funny. I expect he still does." Elgorim's eyes widened even further. "Oh indeed? What was this wizard's name?" "Belboz." "I've heard of Belboz once or twice," he murmured. "How fascinating this is. When was the last time you heard from him?" "Thirteen years ago. I am sure he still keeps tabs on me, however."
