His deal with Belboz had been a desperate one, and he saw now what a ridiculous idea it had been. He would not contact the wizard to ask any more questions, lest he incite his wrath with perceived ingratitude. Now he simply had to deal with this very ill and delirious girl whom his son appeared to be smitten with but certainly could not marry at the very least until she was well and they knew where she had come from. The king entered the healer's chamber two days later, having received word that she appeared to be lucid, though she was still burning up with fever, and the bump she had sustained on her head when she collapsed was still paining her. The beautiful young girl was sitting up in bed but appeared to be profoundly unhappy. She turned her stunningly blue eyes to him and tried to smile. "Hello, sire," she said, her voice musical even in its weakness. "I'm glad to hear you are doing better, my dear," said the king. "How do you feel?" "Dreadful," sighed the lass. "Honestly, I wish I were still asleep." "I'm sorry to hear that," the king said sympathetically, taking a seat at the end of her bed. "How long had you been ill?" "Actually, it's a new development," she said, and took a moment to cough weakly into her hand. "I felt fine until I arrived in your throne room." The king considered this information. "I see. So then, how did Belboz find you? Or rather, how did you meet him?" After a moment, Lilith responded,
