Loam and Fred move under a dark tree a few paces away from the hut. "Fred, this is important. You musn't tell another soul." "I feel you should be resting." replied Fred. "No! This is too important. It's...it's the Forsaken, Fred. Someone's supplying them with silver. They're going to wipe us out, Fred and we can't do a thing about it." "Why not? I don't understand." "It's our ruling council that's doing this, Fred. Did you know I had to battle three of their men just to keep you two love-birds safe while you went prancing around? Now listen. The Great Kingdom doesn't have beaches. Tons of small minor countries own the beachers. The Great Kingdom wants them to open up trade with the new world. And what they're doing, is, using the Forsaken as assiasins. Bit by bit they're knocking off important leaders in the minor countries. The Forsaken are mighty, mindless warriors. In return for their dedication, they get the silver with which to wipe us out. Sure, some of us turn Forsaken once in a while, but not quick enough to please them." Fred realizes Loam is rambling. He needed rest. "But." Loam continued. "It's all interconnected. All a big plot. We're wiped out, the council gets a patch of land somewhere in the wilds on the mainland, and they won't be prosecuted. The Forsaken get to take their hatred out on us and kill humans with the full backing of the Great Kingdom. Everyone wins. Alicia doesn't know. Know the full extent at least. I don't know what to do, Fred. I don't know what to do." "Die, that's what you'll do, you damn traitor." the voice was coming from the shadows. "You would have gotten a hundred square miles of personal territory, Loam. Maybe even Astra as a plaything. But you just had to go screw it up, now did you. Once the beaches were gained and the trade routes established, the Forsaken were to be sent against Minestus. You've really messed up." Multiple shapes stepped out of the shadows. Two bear morphs, a giant snake morph and seven small, wiry fox morphs. All armed with silver plated clubs. "Toldja we should have killed Loam when we had the chance." said one of the bears.
