This, That and the Other Thing with Lancelot…

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 110921

"Oh my!" the talking Lion/God/Entity/God only Knows exactly WHAT mutters softly to himself, shaking his head. "I inadvertently interrupted a Validation Quest in progress…"

"Be that as it may could I be let up now, please?" a somewhat shaken and put out sounding male voice says from the dark armored figure still beneath Aslan’s paws. "I mean . . .what in God’s name is . . . ?"

"I would strongly suggest you do not take His name in vain again like that," the Lion rumbled softly, glaring at the prone figure beneath him. "I give a pass to Rei for her cursing due to a long association as well as having gone through quiet the stressful situation before."

He pauses and gives a meaningful glance toward the blue haired woman and the woman in question has the grace to flush somewhat in embarrassment and nod in acknowledgement from her seated position before going back, shuffling and positioning a card here or there on the table before her.

"It does not mean that I have afforded you the same leeway," Aslan finishes, clearly NOT willing to put with certain things from the still unnamed knight in black. "I do hope you understand? It does you no favors to take the Lord’s name in vain . . .especially around me."

A quick affirmative is all that was given and needed for Aslan to finally let the Berserker from the 4rth Grail War rise, and which he quickly did and then slowly back away from Aslan. Slowly done because he does not wish to further antagonize the Lion and perhaps ruin any chance of getting some answers needed by him, right now.

He had been deep under the influence of madness as what all Berserker classes were "gifted" with in exchange for a vast increase in strength and power when he’d heard the Command given by one of those small, silver haired Masters to Herculese (!), a Servant Berserker. Though he’d still been insane at the time, the Command to that Berserker had carried enough weight to affect HIM as well, even in his invisible Astra form. No, it had Not been enough to totally snap him back to unwanted sanity (where he was forced to recall the betrayal and failure to his King), but enough to stop his march to where his Master wanted him to be and instead stop and inadvertently getting teleported here.

The sheer Presence this Lion had given off had done the rest and how the black knight was coherent enough have understood the mental briefing he’d missed out the first time around that the young teenaged girl had given to the "Brigadier".

Lifting the helm off his head reluctantly, knowing that for now while with Aslan blocking it he was forced to remain sane and not being comforted by the haze of madness that blocked all his regrets of deeds done and obligations failed. Until Aslan willed it otherwise, the "Cage of Madness" he was inflicted with whilst wearing that helm would be denied him.

Which . . .as painful as it was to face reality right now still was for him, was perhaps for the best. It was not like he could have his wish for being able to die at the hands of his King (or kill her for having failed to have him executed for his Treason with Guinevere and instead having to live with the shame of it all).

Not with THREE other Berserker Servants at the ready to stop him as well as . . .everything and everyone else here to block that from happening: his wish.

But though he’d heard, he . . . had to ask again and hear it again, to understand what he heard.

"Lancelot Du Lac," Rei muttered, frowning slightly at the bedraggled mess the knight had become when summoned back from the Throne of Heroes as a Servant. "My word, you look bloody awful."

"Am I . . .did you really mean what you said earlier?" the Servant asks, still unable to quiet grasp.

"Which part?" Rei quips, pausing in her shuffling to finish her magic ritual with the cards. "The part where we’re Champions, which is not quiet as final and bloody as a Counter Guardian?"

"The part where through a technicality brought about by my group’s misadventures with the Imperium of Man where we technically despite bumbling about managed to win over the Emperor there—a human man who has the power easily mistaken for an actual diety—and set the Imperium on a path that doesn’t lead to ruin for the whole galaxy there?" Rei snorted mirthlessly. "That and married with the fact that Drones just grabbed us out of the ether without a ANY prior briefing, much less a ‘by your leave’ we get chucked into the deep end to prevent a bespelled Princess Medea from slitting her brother’s throat and blocking her from going down the path that made her the Witch of Betrayal and all that rubbish? That was part of her sisters wishing for a new life, you know. That and wanting to be allowed to return home after all that time?"

"A perfectly understandable desire," Medea finds herself saying softly, if only to herself as she recalled the tears her sisters shed when they learned that nothing should prevent them from returning to Colchis with her after all this Quest business was completed and everything was squared away…

"N-none of the above ma’am!" Lancelot sputters, not exactly sure what to make of this woman who seems to be the leader of this rather odd lot before him. It was VERY clear that she held him in some distain, of which he could totally understand given his failures and crimes against his liege lord, King Arthur (Arturia). Still, though . . . "I mean . . .!"

"Camelot?" Rei asked softly, with a look that already said she had a feeling she already knew the answer to her question here. "You mean it being a going concern here still and that the Saber sisters here were trying to save the kingdom even before me and my group got mixed into things here?"

"Yes! That was exactly what I was . . .!" Lancelot begins, before blanching and staring aghast at the multiple copies of his King. "W-ait, your wish for the Grail was to SAVE Camelot from falling?

"And I was in the War to only get my King to kill me or to kill her for my failing her?" he asked himself softly, self loathing evident for all to hear.

"Oi, none of that!" Rei snapped after a quick final shuffling of cards and laying them on the table before her.

"Not like being a Berserker there let you thing exactly straight there and all that!" a deep male voice breaks into the discussion from behind Lancelot. "So, how about now that you’re thinking straight you get on the same page and help us save everyone here, including Camelot from destruction eh?"

  1. The one Hercules who'd come over from his brothers group smiles a small consternated smile before continuing. "It would be the reasonable and sane thing to do here."
