Dead Killing Eye

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 110799

In a chamber by the one where Minestus kept his Hoard, one of those which even his servants were never allowed to visit, there was a scrying pool. It had not been built with his own magic but was as old as the Caves themselves, a mineral spring infused with magical elements that abounded there. It boiled and hissed and bubbled and gave off a pale grey light, and in its ripples could be seen things that were and are and may be.

Minestus made his way into the chamber looked into the scrying spring. He stilled his mind and spoke the magic words that had been passed down among dragons since long before humans had ever learned to speak. Ripples shot out from the center of the pool, and something began to take shape within them.

And within there was a red orb--an eye that was looking straight into him. He felt an alien power cutting into his own flame. He screamed and started back. The pool was covered in ripples and the image faded.

This, he knew, had to be a deliberate attack. There was another power in these caves, one that perhaps had aided these princesses in escaping as well. No wizard of the Kingdom was powerful enough to stop him--unless it was Belboz. Minestus let the wily old necromancer continue to practice in his caves as long as they never interfered with each other. But if Belboz had come to know just what his ritual was and what it meant, he might well try to stop it. Then again, it could be a new power, an unknown quantity. The thought disturbed Minestus, who had striven so hard to know every inch of these caves.

  1. Minestus goes to investigate the intrusion.
  2. Minestus calls upon his servants to investigate the intrusion.
  3. Meanwhile, Astra and Exotica make their way through the caves.
