Knight to Maiden to Knight?

Unless... given her current form, could the prophecy mean that it was herself who was supposed to be the knight acting as a maiden? She didn't think that the wizard could be aware that she had until recently been a knight, though. After all, he had sent out the knight to bring back a maiden; he could hardly have sent him to bring back a maiden who had originally been a knight. If the second interpretation of the prophecy was the correct one, then the knight would presumably have needed to have started life as a maiden for their pairing to fulfil it, and that hardly seemed likely.

She couldn't tell the wizard any of this, of course. Would she get an opportunity to write it down?

Meanwhile the wizard went on:

1. "I will get the knight to give you some weapons training."
2. "You will play the role of a knight. I haven't yet dared to tell the knight that he will have to play the role of a maiden."
3. "I haven't yet dared to tell the knight that I am going to transform him into a maiden, so that he can play his role more convincingly."
4. "You see I know that you were once a knight. This was all planned by myself, Belboz (5249) and the court wizard (109583). A guiding spell ensured that you would fall in the river at the right time for the knight - who was once a maiden - to rescue you."
