Astra Meets an Elf

The elf had the keen senses of his people, and a six foot tall woman with flaming red hair takes a lot of hiding, so Astra's attempt at concealment was unsuccessful. "Come out!" called the elf. "I can see you." At least he spoke her language, Astra thought, as she stepped out into the path. Perhaps she wasn't so far away from home after all. Was the elf friendly, though? She made ready to draw the sword that had come with the armour, in case she should need to defend herself.

When she emerged, the elf looked totally astonished. Eventually he said: "A real live human! I had always thought they were purely mythical creatures." Now it was Astra's turn to be astonished. What on Earth was he talking about?

The elf continued:

1. "If the old legends about humans are true, then you might be able to help us..."
2. "There is a large reward on offer for anyone who can bring in a human and prove that they exist."
