The witch had taken the precaution while draining her two victims of rummaging through their memories in case she found anything of use. Discovering their association with Mistress Candida's bawdy house, it had occurred to her that if - for any reason - she could not drain enough years from Freda and Astra, the place should provide her with plenty of other donors. She could not tell where the bawdy house was located but, assuming that the pair would return there once she was finished with them (she did not anticipate their escape), by forging a telepathic link with them they would lead her to the place. It would be simple to teleport there once they had arrived by making use of the link.
What she was unaware of was that Freda and Astra had no idea of how to find their way back to the bawdy house.[48049] Nor did they know how to find Pronklezilch, which was their top priority, since they hoped that he would be willing and able to undo their ageing. Of course, he was not at all the kind person that they thought him to be, so that was highly doubtful. The two still attractive but now fortyish women, each only slightly over five feet tall, with raven-coloured tresses and perfect features, each clad only in two diaphanous swaths of silk,[48031] wandered aimlessly through the forest for a while, until eventually they came across a track that before long led them out of it. A little further on they came to a crossroads with a signpost.
