"Very well, Your Majesty," Xyllis said. The queen left, and Xyllis returned to her chamber and woke the two bawdy girls. They looked round in some confusion. Where were they, and why were they here? For Xyllis had removed their memories of their time in Aqualaria, as what had happened would have made no sense to the two girls now that they lacked any memories of supposedly being a princess and a knight.
"Do not be afraid," Xyllis told them, sensing their alarm. "You are quite safe. I am going to return you home, to the bawdy house that you came from. So if you would just tell me where it is..." "It's Mistress Candida's bawdy house," Freda said. "The clients call her Candy, but she doesn't like it if we do that," Astra added. "She says that it doesn't show her proper respect." "Very interesting," Xyllis said, trying not to let her impatience show. "I haven't heard of Mistress Candida's establishment. Which town is it in?" Luckily, the false memories in the pair's minds included that information. "It's in Guildstown," Freda said. The name meant nothing to Xyllis. That wasn't surprising, as the town was quite small, as well as being hundreds of miles away and in a different country. "I don't know the place," she said. "Pronklezilch is the local wizard," Astra said, trying to be helpful. "He's ever so nice." "And Lord Rudolf is the local nobleman," Freda added. "He isn't nice at all. He tried to cheat us."
