Such was Belboz's confidence in his magic and the cooperativeness of his servant at this point that Winnifred was able to just walk out the front door while her master was asleep. She threw on a cloak to hopefully cover the strangeness of her body, gathered plenty of food in a large sack, and set off down the mountain.

She had left only a handful of times, usually with Belboz's supervision, and always with his knowledge. She really didn't know what she was doing or where she was going. She just knew that she was undergoing changes she didn't understand, Belboz wouldn't help her, and she had to find someone who would.

  1. Once she left the range of Belboz's magical influence, over the course of one minute she changed back--not just fully human, but male again too.
  2. She quickly managed to find a passing caravan of wizards who took quite an interest in her.
  3. After a three-day journey, she was almost out of food and could barely think straight anymore (about 80% chicken, 20% human) when she came across a large castle surrounded by a moat.
  4. At the end of the week, she was a chicken pecking on the ground, wandering into a village in the woods.
  5. Something went wrong midway through the transformation.
