No sense in adding another potentially dangerous spell into the mix before Winthrop's new form had time to stabilize. (Well honestly, there wasn't that much of a risk involved, he was just pretty eager to see some painfully slow transformation action.) His slave could do just about as quality work as a girl as he—now she—had been able to do as a boy. He'd never had to do much heavy lifting as an eleven-year-old child anyway. The following morning, shortly after Belboz woke up, Winnifred (as he had quickly taken to calling her) came to him with concerns about her suddenly whitened body hair and slightly shorter stature, but he brushed off her concerns as unfamiliarity with her new body. He was rather amused at the whole thing. By day's end, Winnifred's body hair was definitely growing thicker and more wispy (slowly changing into feathers), and the hair on her head was falling out—Belboz kept finding it everywhere. She was definitely an inch or two shorter. And her belly was beginning to grow as her overall body structure changed. Winnifred had definitely noticed these changes but hadn't brought them up a second time. By the next time Belboz saw her, around noon the next day, her voice had noticeably changed; she had shrunk down another four or so inches; her arms had begun to shorten, turning into wings; her body was coated by tiny, fine feathers; her nose was beginning to sink into her skull and her mouth protrude; her hair was unattractively thin; her body was much thicker; her legs were growing orange and spindly, and her toes clawed; and she definitely seemed several IQ points slower. Her distress was evident, and this time she did not hesitate to squawk, "Master, what's happening to me?" as soon as she saw him. Belboz paused as he crossed the room, and said scathingly, "Nothing out of the ordinary. Do have some sense of dignity, Winnifred." This actually succeeded in shutting her up.
