As it turned out, fairies were capable of giving people any or all of their own attributes. Hannah was very beautiful—perhaps they had simply deemed her "worthy." With every passing second, her mind was becoming vainer, duller, and shallower. Her body began to give off a faint glow. Limited magical abilities of her own were slowly growing inside her. And as the changes were wrapping up, she found that the indecipherable chattering around her had become intelligible.

"Oh, that dress is just darling!"

"Her hair is horrid—we shall have to help her with it."

"The color of her wings matches her skin tone so well!"

They chattered on endlessly about every minuscule detail of her appearance, as if she wasn't right there and could hear every word they were saying. They only stopped when...

  1. Gloriana arrived on the scene, calling, "Hannah? Where have you gone?"
  2. Hannah ordered, "Restore me to my previous form immediately!" her mind intact enough to make the demand.
  3. Hannah asked, "So am I coming home with you all, or what?" She had seen that these fairies cared more about looks than anyone else she'd ever encountered, and she wanted to be around that all the time.
  4. Hannah zipped away through the air.
