The Never Ending Quest - Episode 108539

In a split-second decision made mostly by reflex, Hannah grabbed as much of her cloak's material in her fists as she could manage, and bolted for the door, trying to ignore the chanting behind her that faded away with distance.

And then her cloak vanished. She found, however, that she couldn't stop running. Her legs kept pumping until she had broken out of the trees, entered the nearest village, and gotten well into the busy marketplace.

So there she stood in the middle of a bustling town, a young girl who had once been beautiful, but whose throat was now bulged to ridiculous proportions to house her thick, long, toadlike tongue, and whose skin was completely covered with enormous green bumps with coarse black hair sprouting from them. She suddenly noticed that her long-sleeved, floor-length, oversized dress had been replaced by a rather scanty arrangement of huge leaves--rather toad-ish looking, and far more revealing than she wanted considering the way she currently appeared.

Hannah felt like crying. This was not going well at all.

  1. The villagers were gasping in horror, some even screaming, upon seeing her. Three men (not that it would have taken more than one) wrestled her to the ground and quickly whisked her away to contain her.
  2. The villagers were keeping away from her and seemed grim but unsurprised, as Mariela had magically altered unfortunate visitors and sent them to this very village before.
  3. Mariela did this so often that a few villagers approached her and kindly invited her to come meet the enchantress's other victims.
  4. To her surprise and bewilderment, none of the villagers were acknowledging her at all.
