Hannah's heart skipped a beat. Already this was going terribly! Mariela knew? What if she couldn't cure her but told Belboz where she was? The enchantress looked her up and down, and Hannah braced herself for the look of disgust, but to her confusion, she didn't acknowledge her skin problem at all.

"He asked me to keep a hold of you until he could come retrieve you." Mariela waved her hand, and suddenly Hannah's limbs felt leaden. Within seconds she was dead asleep.

"He is a dear friend of mine, and he seemed very worried." Mariela looked at her disapprovingly. "Why have you done this to him?"

"I never liked him much. Why did you run from him? Did he hurt you?"

"Come in, you can rest and have something to eat while I contact him."

Eyes narrowed, Mariela looked her over. Suddenly her eyes widened, and she snapped her fingers. Hannah doubled over, holding her head in her green, bumpy hands.
