The knight had, similar to Fred five years before, disturbed Belboz's plans and seen too much, and so had had to be contained. However, he had been far more obnoxious than Fred, and seemed to be even stupider. This had inspired Belboz to go the extra mile with his containment--Fred was not even aware of what had been taken from him, and that which had been taken was less. The little girl that the knight had become stood there in barely contained rage, her little hands balled into fists. She stared at Winthrop, wondering if he had undergone trials similar to hers--but he seemed perfectly at ease, if not a little afraid of Belboz, but who wouldn't be? She would not be able to find out, for part of her curse was that she could never speak of it. Belboz couldn't have Winthrop starting to wonder. "I hope you two get on well," Belboz purred suggestively, and Edith raised her eyebrows in outrage at what she was sure he was implying. As it turned out, they did not get on so well at all. There was such a disconnect between the hyper-conditioned subservient young boy and the girl who still had the mind of a stubborn, proud knight that the formation of a relationship would be next to impossible. Belboz was all right with this. It was amusing watching the frustration boil up inside Edith when interacting with Winthrop, his truly loyal slave.
