The Magic Spark

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 108099

By the time an hour has passed, Fred and Astra fear that Velus must have been captured. Otherwise he would surely have made an attempt to free them by now. There is no chance of Fred and Astra combining to allow one of them to escape, as Astra had done with Velus. Each is substantially heavier than the wiry teen and thus too heavy for the other to lift on his or her upraised hands.

Then something happens to relieve the monotony of their imprisonment. "Look!" Fred says, pointing upwards. High above, a brightly glowing spark has flown in through the window and is spiralling downwards, buzzing and clicking.

"What can it be?" Astra asks.

"I don't know, but whatever it is it surely must be magical. Could the wizard have survived, and this be his doing?"

  1. He could, and it is. When the spark reaches the floor of their cell there is a flash of light, and then the wizard is standing where the spark had been.
  2. The spark floats down until it comes in contact with the metalwork around the lock of the door. This and the lock itself promptly melt and run down the door like water, allowing Fred and Astra to push the door open.
  3. The spark splits into two, one part heading for Fred and one for Astra. When these come in contact with their skin, what - if anything - does it do to them?
  4. They realise that the buzzes and clicks form words - hard to interpret, but words nonetheless.
