"The trail is lost, and so is the howl of the monkies." The tall Atha'den
said as she scanned her surroundings with her keen eyes. "It is obvious
they are headed for MalBoncton, most likley the shadow town of Walants in
Red Snake territory. They are as cunning as river dolphins to have eluded
me, no man has ever done so except those two bow-legged cowards." The group of five Shedayphin stood around her as she spoke. They were tall and fierce like the rest of their kindred yet they were very different in many ways. They did not worship the Elementals but instead different animal spirits. Because they did not worship the Elementals they could not enter any city in Aqualaria, nor did they want to. They were the elite rangers who were the guardians of the jungle. "Alryssa will be most displeased, Asaera." A woman wearing a crocodile mask said, addressing the tall Atha'den after a long silence."It will be enough that we have driven them out of our land." Asaera responded. "We have gone as far as we can, here to the edge of our realm, they were one step ahead of us the whole time. If only I could have got a clear shot at one of them! Even for a brief second! But alas. This party is disbanded." The six rangers turned and went their seperate ways, most going south, a few going east, and one slipping off and heading north towards MalBoncton. The Govenor stood and peered out of the large window that looked out over the township of New Suffex. It was a bustling, thriving city on the edge of the frontier. The city was located on an island in the river Ethans making it very defendable. It's population was around 6,000, roughly half of that was made up of native Blue Snake tribesmen and the other half was made up of mostly settlers, traders, and hunters from the Kingdom and immigrants from the south. It was the center of trade (at least "legal" trade) for miles upon miles around in the wilderness. "Welcome, M'Lady, to my home. It has been a long time since I last saw you and much has happened in that time." Qrom said as he turned around to face the tall Atha'den. "Why are you here, Asaera?"She smiled slightly as she spoke. "Yes, much has happened. And I have had good reason for my long disappearance, none of which I need to explain to you. I come now with news that I think will greatly interest you." "You are a mysterious one, you and your people." Qrom replied, taking a seat in a plush blue chair. "And I don't understand your motives.""Of course you do not, nor do you need to. That is of no relevance. What is of relevance is the news I bring to you. A name, Frederigo D'Honaire. Does it mean anything to you?" He raised an eyebrow at the name. "Lord Frederigo D'Honaire? Why yes of course! Last I heard he was off to slay the Dragon that has been oppresing my homeland for years. What about him?"Asaera let out a loud laugh, sounding almost like a roar. "Only a man would be foolish enough to confront the DragonMage alone! But it seems your great warrior made a very wrong turn somewhere and is now being held in a cell in the jungles of my own land. The Elementals, worshiped by my more foolish kindred, have taken great interest in him, which probably means he is going to die." "That is most dire news! But why are you telling me this?"Asaera thought for a moment. "I will tell you this much; I have no respect for the Elementals, or any of my kind that worship them. Two mad sorcerers have oppressed Aqualaria for years, and the Elementals cannot do anything about it. I want a return to the old ways, and that means the destruction of the Malabra. All of the Shedayphin feel this way, but only a select few in the inner circle know of my comming here. What I request is an allegiance between your colony and the Shedayphin, for we both share the same enemies. And do not try to hide your vulnerable position here, caught between the Atha'den and the New Order to the west in Red Snake territory." "The Kingdom is not on bad terms with the Aqualarians." Qrom responded. "Why would I risk going to war with them?""Do not fool yourself, Qrom. You are only a man, but a smarter man than that. It is only a matter of time before something sparks a war. Have you not noticed that many of the slave seeking raids have began to encroach on your territory?" A grim look came over his face. "Aye, indeed. However I must have time to think this over and seek council. It's very bad news that Lord D'Honaire is being held prisoner, give me three days to reach a decision.""Three days is too much, I will give you one. I will return tommorow at this time." And at that, she vanished.
