Laugh-Out Loud Funny

Astra was soon laughing out loud. Either the book was written by Captain Shirk and he had no self-knowledge, or the author was another man (or perhaps a woman!) who was writing a wicked parody of the captain's voyage. The illustrations were especially funny. A scene set in a pumpkin patch that arrested Astra's attention. In the scene two jolly, chubby, buxom "Amazons" were chasing a barefoot, flabby man wearing a captain's uniform. The uniform in the illustration had enough of its seat missing to be a little naughty without crossing the line into obscenity.

1. Astra read the story that accompanied the illustration, which went as follows ....
2. Astra read the trashy, but hilarious book for about an hour, and then snuffed the lamp and went to sleep.
3. Astra noted an inscription in the flyleaf.
