Josh and the Time Traveler walked down the staircase. There was a door leading out. Josh turned the knob, and the door opened. Often the Staircase Room would play some sort of trick that would make it hard to leave, but in this case it did not happen.

1. coming out of a three-story brick building in a small town. Above the third floor the builders embedded the words "Burbank, Chen and Co. 1911"
2. in a corridor at the Grand Central Station in New York, which was little over a year old.
3. at the base of a windmill in the country.
