(Stacy wondered how they'd managed that on such short notice. She was more
and more impressed with Zimmermann's resources all the time, which was
certainly not a good thing, as far as she was concerned.) The driver --
Franz, Stacy remembered his name was -- escorted them to their seats and
instructed them in a thick German accent to strap in. Stacy briefly
considered making a break for it (and she could tell by the set of Julie's
shoulders that she was thinking the same thing), but Franz quite
deliberately let his suit jacket fall open so they could see the gun
dangling at his side (as well as the way his hand continually hovered near
it). Silently, the two of them agreed not to take the risk. In a moment Zimmermann reappeared and said:
