Medea … The Root . . . No, no NO! The Root is so many thing… Author’s Note-Medea’s here is still too stunned to be able to give a totally coherent explanation as to why she’s so upset. A good explanation for it is here: http://typemoon .wikia.com/ wiki/Akasha And since besides being everything else, Medea is a “Magus” (albeit from “the time of the Gods” in Nasuverse), she had the ambition of reaching You must understand, the thought that anyone would even THINK to harm, much less DESTROY the Root . . Uh, or as Maya called it, the Dark Tower. . . IT’S OBSCENE! . . . But I understand now! What these Heroic Spirits actually ARE doing here, in some manner or other, in regarding their last Quest anyway. I’ve yet to learn what their current Quest . . .beyond it somehow involved ME (not that I’m ungrateful at ALL that) . . . but I do know what their last Quest involved. Yes! Now before, I did get mostly the reason what Rei and her sisters’ “Quest” somewhat involved: a rescue mission of a kidnapped family member. Namely, it was the now little girl who happened to be John Conner’s twin sister and she was somehow mystically linked to the fused floating cities of Rapture and Columbia (what odd names those forgieners give their cities)… Uh, anyway, as an aside if Rei’s group had failed, John’s sister’s life not only would have been forfeit but the floating combined cities? The power that had somehow been keeping Columbia afloat is (or was) a RATHER powerful magick that Maya had said was called “Quantum Levitation”. In the city of Rapture there had been these mystic codes (or “Magic Items” as John called them like from “AD&D”, whatever that is exactly) had been commissioned by its ruler to cheat death through another powerful magic called “Quantum Entanglement”. … Yes, yes. I know that such things were attributed to some esoteric branch of the natural philosophies (or “science” as Maya), but though I do not know ENOUGH about that brand of magery does not mean I cannot recognize SOME of it’s features (albeit in passing) from some of the more esoteric magicks I’ve seen and heard of while studying the Arte, thank you! … …And who is this Clarke you are speaking of here and when and where would I, a magus from the Time of the Gods, not be able to able to distinguish “significantly advance technology” from “magic”? … No, nevermind. I’m getting needlessly sidetracked by such ODD thoughts right now from . . .where ever . . . Anyway, I know now that originally, they key to undoing this debacle lay within John’s sister. How this came exactly about Maya was NOT saying and refused to tell (not that I felt a need to try to pry too deeply into an entity who until recently I would have called a Goddess). With her rescue, she got teleported back to where that . . .Talking Lion Aslan would be FINALLY be able to use his powers safely to get whatever was within the young girl and send the floating combined cities to wherever their ultimate destiny lay and NOT instead rain down and destroy countless acres of food crops of the land of Ainran (as well as civilian casualties from falling debris) , thus in the process avoiding a possible mass starvation situation. Now, why Aslan couldn’t just have done that from afar without the small girl I cannot exactly say. In the course of things I overheard and saw, it had something to do with a deal that Aslan had to forge between various unnamed parties to help keep the poor girl from vanishing due to a time paradox curse which had afflicted her and her family sometime earlier… It would have erased her from existence, but Aslan had somehow managed to put her into the realm of Rapture, as a young child devoid of her memories of her true origins. Instead, she got adopted secretly by a female cabalist (who’d form a cult called “the Rapture Family”)… Long and confusing story, but suffice to say that without Aslan the poor girl wouldn’t have been around to be rescued by her rather enraged brother by the end of things. That and Aslan DID undo the erasure of her true origins and made things right for the young girl, in the end. Just had to do it in a rather dangerous, round about manner. Sometimes such measures are needed to bring about “happy endings” and such, I suppose. Even IF it kind of strained the Quest system parameters, by what I’ve gathered. Even If this particular brand of Quest isn’t the kind these Champion people usually are tasked to do (protect the Dark Tower from further damage and/or destruction). Might not seem it at times, but usually the Quests they are tasked with somehow in some fashion or another involve foiling schemes which would lead to that dire outcome (otherwise). ”And I want to be a part of it!” I shout, coming out of that empty space between time and space, and back into the here and now (out of being “in touch with the Gods”, which some would mistake for an epileptic episode) knowing that it MUST be my destiny, after being spared that dark Fate as the Witch of Betrayel! “Please! I want to be a Champion!”
“Oh dear,” the Goddess of Love chuckles slightly, seeing that the Visions she and others had been sharing with the young, gung ho woman rather failed spectacularly to avoid this. She had been, through her . . . kin back in that other time/space/destination given a new chance at Life, through their Wishes. Least we Entities could do, granting that/those Wishes instead of some Cursed/befowled omnipotent wish granting machine that is MORE akin to what the Mortals know as the Monkey Paw than anything else in this Quadrant of the Dark Tower realm. We put her/them into so much suffering and grief through our treacherous Avatar’s actions, so it was the least I and the rest could do, right? Just the thing is that there had been some leeway we’d granted as a boon to our loyal Subjects (the Rules and Agents), IF she chose to follow in Rei’s footprints. That healing magic she’d used on Medea had imprinted something rather alien within Medea’s psyche, something that is not exactly to be found within anyone or anything ANYWHERE within the “Nasuverse” as it were. It’s the seed/mental condition that makes being a Champion possible. A mental/psychological condition that is somewhat akin to a madness of sorts. Not really a madness, but it makes being a Champion bearable to what otherwise would eventually drive anyone else insane and leave at that. A bravery. A drive to right wrongs and just . . .be something of a hero. It’s different from exactly anything else in this reality that reflects the franchise (the Fate/Stay Night and associated works of Nasu) which reflects this reality. The thing is that with Medea becoming a Champion (after a little bit of a “makeover session” with some of my Compatriots they felt they owed Medea for their Avatars’ inaction throughout her now derailed Fated “future” life), we now have . . .some kind of problems here. Oh, Medea shall have her new lease on life (and what a adventurous new LIFE she shall now), but before . . . We’ll you shall see. It’s just a a “Higher Up”, when we Intercede in a mortals life like this, bringing Powers to bear upon them . . .there are bigger hiccups which occur in the Dark Tower system/multivserse than what you’d get with just a Rule or Agent intercession. So be it Later… John "I don't duel, boy,” I overhear sister Rei sneers out at one of the two red haired oriental teenage boys before us here at the city docks. “I kill as a soldier kills, which is as a butcher kills, as quickly, efficiently, and with as least risk to myself and those I hold dear as I can arrange! ”Besides, it was just on the heavy ‘Stun’ I used!” muttered Rei, shaking her head at the guy being kind of . . .slow on the uptake. Got a good point there, really. I mean the gun she used? On high setting--like what was used MORE than I care to think about here. . .Jesus!—it’s got the same punch as anti-tank rounds. Would have turned miss silver locks there into a fine bloody mist instead of a laid out woman over yonder there, bud. Please use your head besides as a hat rack before you get yourself killed here, would you! “Besides worm,” Medea panted to the right of me, leaning heavily on the Warhammer/gravity hammer that had replaced her old magus staff. Man, got to say that the new “Amazon warrior/mage” look really does her well there. That and she’s a real knockout in that modified “encounter suit” that those Higher Ups “borrowed” from somewhere in the Warhammer 40K reality. The now platinum blonde hair makes her look even a bit more cool as well, I dare add. NOT that I would trade my love in for her, but even NOW I can see she’s . . .”radiant”, in a real sense. Kinda got a Joan of Arc thing going on there. Oh! And let's not say anything about no longer looking anything "anime" like at all! Yep, whatever those "Higher Ups" did to her included that as well. Something or other about "stabilizing the her underlying matrix pattern to handle the new reality being Imported into this Sector" or some such... Uh, I'll ask Rei a bit latter about that when we get a chance, but not right now, because.... “What that young silver haired homunculus got inflicted with was hardly the same deadly thing that had been used upon Heracles there,” Medea snarled, rather pissed off at this red headed kid. Shiro something or other was the name I hear mentioned in all that running and fighting we just did a bit ago. Damn, that was inSANE!
