"Jernicus?" Bertha said. "The name sounds familiar. Methinks he lives on the east side of town... he is a mage, is he not? In high esteem at the Guild, too!"

"Indeed." Fred nodded. "He is a most powerful sorceror, and one of the King's most trusted servants. We must find him, and he will surely aid us."

"Ah, but you seek to find Jernicy?" said a voice from the darkness. "Ye shan't find the bugger here in ol' Vjorice, that be for certain!"

"Who said that?" Fred exclaimed. "Reveal yourself!"

The shadows parted and a tall, wiry elf leapt into the clearing. "Tah dah!" he cried. "I am Quirlos, the Elf! He wore green clothing and a bow across his chest.

"Jernicy ain't around here no more." said he. "Ol' Buffle Tenor went to the woods, in fear of Castellan's Doom Squadron."

"Doom Squadron?" Fred asked. "What manner of squadron is that?"

"They're Spirit Ninjas that Castellan has summoned to assasinate his enemies." Bertha exclaimed. "It is said they attack without warning and kill within seconds - a most fearful power!"

"Aye!" Quirlos nodded. "That rapscallion Castellan shall be the death of the Duchy yet! With his meddling in the arts of Chaos, he is draining all the life out of these woods - and with it, our elven magicks! The Queen Mother hasn't been able to muster enough strength for one of the Great Blessings in weeks!

"Quirlos!" Fred said. "Can you take me to see Jernicus? Where is he?"

"He's in the Doom Forest, and aye, I can." said Quirlos. "But what's the point of finding the bugger? Rather, join up and storm Castellan's house with me tonight! We'll piss in his plants, and spraypaint his front porch with obscene lymericks! It's perfect vengeance!"

"Hmm..." said Fred. "I would do more than that if I got to his house. But something tells me we should find Jernicus and enlist his aid as well..."

1. Fred convinces Quirlos to take them to see Jernicus.
2. Quirlos convinces Fred to go vandalize Castellan's house.
