Going to See the King

It obviously was not the reply the Queen had been expecting. "Well - well then, let's go find him!"

The Queen led them down the hallways of the castle, muttering vague imprecations. Joan followed, wondering what had become of the statue, and hoping that she could convince Embron and Jastina of the importance of her mission.

Finaly, they reached a large chamber room, guarded by a large man in chain mail and holding a spear. "Is my husband in there?" Jastina demanded.

"Yes, Your Majesty, but..."

"Then admit us."

"I'm sorry, my Queen, but he left orders not to be disturbed."

The Queen's eyes narrowed. "And I," she said firmly "Am giving you orders to allow and this wen- this woman in!"

The guard gulped, caught unhappily between a rock and a hard place. Just then, there was the sound of a crash and a yell from within the room.

With a start, the guard turned and rushed into the room, Jastina and Joan hard on his heels. Inside, they found:

1. King Embron, tied up on the floor and thrashing about!
2. King Embron, in bed with a young woman who looked exactly like Joan!
3. King Embron, held at swordpoint by a vicious-looking Amazon woman!
4. Nothing. The room was completely empty.
