The Darkest Victory...the Brightest Defeat.....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 10635

The Full Moon rises, and Astra moans in a combination of horror and delight as she feels an old, hated/loved feeling come over her.

In other realities, the wizards say, there is a method called "chemotherapy" where massive amounts of something called "radiation" used on some sickness called "cancer", dear listener. It is said to be a magical method that can cure....but in some ways is almost worse than the disease itself since it sickens the one intended to be healed. Worse, if the disease isn't eradicated by the first "dosage," they say that this dire disease can rebound.....proof against the supposed cure and bound to kill the patient slowly and painfully.

This aspect is also shared with the vile blood contagion that poor Astra still has.

You see, Astra had lost consciousness before she could complete the struggle with the beast and the beast won....and grew to new and terrible strengths.

Thus the beast rises up within the noble Astra.....washes over her and erodes away the last of her humanity......leaving only a murderous shell of the young woman in place. So swiftly does it happen that it seems that the fur and fangs seem to explode from the once noble woman's form. This is so swift that almost all of her companions shout in shock and dismay as she rises on paw like feet!

The human/wolf woman raises her head in exultant triumph as she howls at the Moon, her mistress, and then smells the humans near her. Instinctively, she turns and leaps!

Now, granted Simon and the others should have been able to drive the werewolf woman away easily as before. However, Fred had tired of his companions and saw an opportunity.

Their attention is upon Astra, and not him as he takes out his sword and seperates Simon's head from shoulder's before the fool can get off yet another painful and blasted prayer or warding or whatever! The other turns in shock at the betrayal, only to be born down by Astra and his throat torn out!

He gives off one last gurgling scream of betrayal and all is quiet as Thaobath's sigil flares and brings the wolfin servant of Hell under his sway.

Feeling generous, the demonic entity has Astra run off to find her packmate.

Perhaps the wolf will even find her, thus making it easier for Thaobath to gather her up and use her for his sinister plans.

Meanwhile, he takes demonic delight in listening to the screams of anguish from the tattered remains of the old Frederigo.

"Oh....but you are almost spent and soon....." the "presence" within Fred chuckles, taking yet another taste of his host, only to pause in surprise as he hears two wheezing, grinding sounds come from behind him!

A little earlier inside Dr. What's TARDIS

It's a touch crowded in the certain sections of the TARDIS, with half of the D'Honaire and Thessamer clan evenly divided between it. The TARDISes are also carrying the Regent of Ethiopia (who'd said something in passing about what had happened to her would carry over to Ethiopia), Trilling Blackfather and his two wives, Master Rift, Gloria (who was chatting excitedly with Astra 9), Tarin the dwarf, Grailing, Grailing's wife, Betty 1, Alicia 2, Alicia's father (who'd been teleconferencing but got sucked in and joined up), Betty 2, and Melissa.

Oh, and let us not forget the dragons, the Loam, Manbear Synizn, and the demifoxes.

Basically, all the goodies wnt and volunteered to become Champions!

Dr. What's halfway listening in as he makes yet another adjustment to the control column as Diane Walker is quietly explaining the finer points of the founding ideas of the Military to Trilling Blackfeather.

"Well....maybe we do tend to go a bit overboard in a few things, dearie," Walker admitted, having come to grips on what she'd seen and done in the past, "but I'd hardly call it out and out fanatical. By the Forge, it could be something like some of the most extreme version of the Foreign Legion I've heard about! The saying goes in it: 'You have joined the Legion to die, and now I will send you where men die.' We at least don't go that far, mostly....."

Certain honesty in that, but..... the Doctor said to himself as he made one final adjustment right before he landed.

"We're here," he says, turning on the main viewer.

  1. A man who looks to be a Fred analog is goggle-eyed, staring apparently at the TARDIS. There is a nimbus of unholy light about him......
