The Never Ending Quest - Episode 10624

From Episode 10187

That was just me adjusting your Matrixes so that when the change back in your timelines occurs you aren't cast adrift in time to eventually fade...as what almost happened with Astra before, Rule 4 explained via a telepathic, soothing thought transmission. It's a similar process to what happened to one Astra you'll be meeting soon..... Both she and you share a common item. Both of you are time orphans.

Next.....well, I have a question for Fred, the Rule asks, already pretty much knowing the answer. You remember how much sharper your senses were a bit ago when Astra's heart invaded your own? Would you like to be that way permanently.....have the senses and reflexes of an elf? To become an elf like your lady love?

Fred thought about it, and he smiled. Suddenly, a splitting image of an elfin Champion named Gilmuriel stood before Astra. Basically, it was Fred's old body redone along the styling of an elf. She liked it and Fred's heart, now wild and fey sings as he feels the world around him like never before....and feels his heart and soul link with Astra's heart and soul.

"How about names?" Fred suddenly blinks. "The name.....Fred doesn't...."

"And Astra kind of...." Astra says, voicing a nagging feeling she's been having ever since her transformation.

"Seem to suit you not?" Rule 4 chuckles. "That's happened with the analog brother you now resemble. How about like Kethiani for Astra and Feir-dalen for Fred."

"Sound perfect," the newly Renamed elves sigh, happy. "Now," Rule 4 finishes, "This part is going to surprise you. While Rule and Agents always can use help in things.....I don't have any tasks for you except for something more of a personal favor."

Both new elves quirk eyebrows in askance and then their hearts seem to melt as the Rule produces seemingly from the thin air a small bundle. A small, reedy cry comes from within the swaddled clothing, and Kethiani and Feir-dalan see the fussy elfin, silver haired, girl infant within.

"Name her what you will....and raise her as your own," the Rule smiles at the adoring elves as they look at the elfin infant....who has stopped crying and suddenly breaks into a glowing infant smile as her little heart is soothed by the sight of what she somehow know will be her loving parents. Vague memories fade and terrible fears ease and go away....leaving an infant who is delighted at the sight of her new loving parents.

No mention of special histories or magical theories about the elfin infant are made, for Kethiani and Feir-dalen wish that their lovely daughter have a normal and happy life (until that special day eight years from now comes). They may tell select few later, but now right now. As for Probe, he'd made a promise and he'd keep it....or die trying.

Their tale done, all are quiet.

The others know that all the new analogs have been examined magically and such within an inch of their lives.....but the story of how Feir-dalen had been saved by eternal damnation was.....eerie. Eerie and emotionally upsetting for Astra 8 (who'd been teleconferencing via magic mirror). She was seeing a road not taken here with the elves. A road where "her" Fred had failed while....with the aid of her elfin sister..... Feir-dalen had succeeded. All because one simple factor, somebody had been their to help (in a way) when he needed it the most. Though not logical, Astra 8's heart ached at the thought of what could have been.

Composing herself, she suddenly had a thought.....

"I know of one thing I'd like to do in exchange for willingly join up with your team....." she begins.

Dr. Which and Dr. What look at the ringing telephone on one of their TARDISes.

"When you asked me to help fix the Chamelion circuit I didn't know how....eccentric your Type 40 was acting," Dr. Which said to What, "Even with these odd readings these 'tricorder' tools give, I still didn't expect something like this!"

Dr. What picks up the phone, halfway expecting Dr. Who....but gets instead one of his bosses......

"Put Astra 8 on the phone, please?" a nondescript (but somehow powerful) male voice says over the phone.

Before one of the Doctor's can say "Great Balls of fire" the woman in question is at their side.

She takes the phone from them without asking and places the listening part (as she understands it from a hasty description of basic function from Probe).

  1. "We need to talk and talk straightaway," Astra 8 says simply, taking in stride that she'd suddenly found herself in Ethiopia with the others, "You have a few more volunteers than just me, Rule 1."
