"He could have me divorced. The High Priest would have to agree in order to make it official, but he's not going to argue with the king. Emry's father had no less than three queens, divorcing the first two. So I want you to get rid of all four girls."

"Get rid of them? Surely you don't mean that I should kill them?"

"No, of course not. I just want them far away from the palace."

"I suppose I could do that for you. Since none of them is very bright - giving them a higher intelligence would have been far more difficult - I shall have to be careful to place them somewhere where they will be able to cope...

1. "I'll have them married off to prosperous farmers or merchants."
2. "They would make good barmaids."
3. "They would do very well in the town brothel. I'm assuming that the king does not frequent the establishment, so they need never meet him again."
4. "There's a travelling theatre troupe in town. I'm sure it would welcome four attractive new dancers."
5. "Alternatively, I could just make them less attractive. If they were each carrying sixty pounds extra weight, say, then Emry would lose interest in them."
