Meandering Medea...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 105657

And as an outsider looking in, the young woman known as Medea watches silently, pretty much unable to do much else but silently watch this sequence of events. Needless to say it stands to reason she does NOT understand everything she sees and hears, having no context for some of it at all (what with some of the items she's seeing being created AFTER her time as it were).

Initially she had mistaken her rescuers (or whatever they actually were) as Heroic Spirits, a spirit/revenant of sorts who's exact nature is found here:

http:// typemoon. wikia. com/wik i/Heroic _Spirit

BUT however, a thumbnail description of them is found in this quote from there:

An elemental spirit of humanity that is considered a natural phenomenon in itself, Heroic Spirits ("Eirei", "Legendary Souls" in the English version of Fate/Extra) are beings that accomplished great achievements such as saving the world and, after their death, became the object of worship and lore.

Worship more along the lines of how it is with "a rock star with their fans than getting worshipper like those who sacrifice items at a temple or some such thing, as John Conner would later get clarified (much to the initial confusion of Medea, who'll find certain things about "modern life where she'll find herself soon quiet . . .odd).

Ah, but as for this upcoming tale? The parts with the rather intricate (and complicated) backstories and source material which could/would completely overpower the current story thread?

Whelp, it has something to do with a misplaced Amazonian princess who ended up in Game 3 (re: 72007). OH, she called herself "Lady Astra and had acted like quiet the twit and blabbermouth around "Princess Astra but she was a princess, just one deeply enchanted by the Evil Dragon as one of his more fun "toys. That particular Amazon warrior woman turned griffiness is of a category or two similar if not the same as Medea and her world, that being a "survivor and a "multi-versal flotsam artifact.

She does not know it yet but. . ..

No, that's for later (if ever).

Right now, while she is actually VERY grateful for having been spared having the blood of her brother on her hands (as well as inadvertently betraying her kingdom and father for the likes of Jason), she knows that something is just NOT right here about this situation.

The Gods and Goddesses are trying to tell me something here, Medea muttered softly to herself. "But what exactly is it? They are Heroic Spirits or something akin. I can sense that much from them being so close to them!

It is not the fact that (in her books) that Rei and the other Champions are something comparable to Heroic Spirits--being how one sided the battle Jason's foolishness had been. . .ªthough it is related. It is rather. . .

...

Outsiders? Medea asked herself with a bit of worry about what harmful effects certain "contact could have upon her mind and soul, before dismissing such thoughts.

Well, it is the fact that these Outsiders (beings who are "realer than real and from a very far away and eldritch realm indeed) should be so . . .human. Indeed, it was one of the first lessons of magi of her time that warned of NEVER consorting with Outsiders of this ilk. They were supposed to be too alien and bloody dangerous and if they should even touch you , then the experience would forever change you and most likely . . .drive you irrevocably insane.

Being that it was far too late for that (and without their intervention she would HAVE been driven into some kind of twisted monster and stalking horse of the powers that be), she was somewhat relieved that thus far it had been only a vision or two of these strange people's past.

She was changing, that she was sure. It seemed to be radiating outward slowly (so slowly) from where the winged woman with blue hair had cast some sort of healing her cracked (nearly broken despite magically Reinforcing her body for subduing her own brother). That and a rather large amount from her own stomach, where "Rei had force fed her a potion which had been (besides being rather sweat tasting) useful in eventually BREAKING the mind altering magicks on her own person.

. . .

A sweat tasting anti-mind control potion? Sounds like if she got her chance to ask this Rei woman for tips on the Art, considering that while her own potions were not terribly vile they wouldn't be considered pleasant tasting (except for the poisons).

Odd how that works, that!

Anyway!

In her Vision (which had been like she had BEEN there in person, albeit hidden in the shadows), she witnessed her rescuers fly (by either magic artifacts or by wing) around a floating cityscape. She had witnessed that Rei and several of the others had reacted rather negatively to whatever had been written in that foreign tongue and perhaps had played in part the haste they displayed in their journey.

It had not been a totally straight line to their destination, being that winds at various points seemed to force them to land and soon FIGHT their way through hordes of the ODDEST undead creatures s or mechanical monsters (a "clockwork Terminator John Conner had gripped after one particular he'd seen, rescuing from time to time various living grownups and adults along the way (teleporting them elsewhere to safety at a guess), only to get to where ever they deemed best to take flight again to continue on to their ultimate destination.

"First we have to go through this floating racist Disneyland fulla zombies that go into a berserk feeding frenzy whenever their routine is thrown off by ANYTHING but we also have to fight clockwork Terminators?! John practically was raving after gunning down his fifth mechanical assassin dressed up as George Washington of all people. "And there's a video game based on this place, except without the zombies?!

"Pretty much," Rei agreed, sounding a bit stressed and angered herself about the whole affair. Despite having mentioned pretty much this already beforehand but allowances can be made for John's stress making him overlook that, right? "Except for one thing: I would bloody well say that the loss of intelligence from them becoming zombies was not all that much if they should actually believe in THIS drivel!"

Being unfamiliar with the ideals of "equality and "democracy (and all that) the "Founding Fathers of the United States) espoused (if did not exactly practice, what with some being prominent slave owners).

Frankly, being a princess of ancient Greek times pretty much meant those kind of ideas were rather foreign (and perhaps a bit repugnant up until the time that her goddess herself had hinted VERY strongly that she should expand her horizons).

Up until this point she hadn't been sure, not at all what the deal with their exact distaste for the setting she was seeing until she saw Rei give a particularly scorching glare at a certain poster. . .

  1. Given that one or two of the caricatures had decidedly familiar facial features like Rei and her sisters (and husband) and Medea being rather repulsed by the obviousness of the bigotry displayed upon the poster.
