The wizard was powerful but practical, and elected to use a simple but strong sleeping spell on the entire inn, so he could load the two barmaids onto his cart without anyone's knowledge. That plan went without a hitch. As the two of them slept, he deactivated their voice boxes (he didn't want to deal with their inevitable protests when they woke up) and replaced their simple dresses with flowing, expensive gowns (if he was to tell the prince they were both royals, they must look the part). They arrived back at the kingdom just as the young women were stirring, and they were completely awake—and very much alarmed—when the wizard beckoned them out of the cart. Eventually, they had to obey, and they were taken to the throne room of the grand castle. There stood the two beautiful but perfectly bewildered young girls, and they listened in steadily growing panic as the wizard said to the prince, "Both these young women are of noble birth.
