The Prince May Yet Get His Bride After All

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 105469

Belboz had let the court wizard know in advance by magical means that he and Princess Frederica, the maiden whom he had selected as a suitable candidate to be the prince's bride, would be arriving by means of a teleportation spell, since the distance was so great. When they failed to appear, the court wizard became concerned. After much painstaking magical detective work, he eventually managed to determine that the pair had teleported to an inn some hundred miles away from the prince's palace rather than to their intended destination.

He set out for the inn on horseback, wondering why Belboz hadn't let him know what had happened. When he arrived, the reason became clear. Not one but two beautiful maidens had mysteriously appeared at the inn, where they were now working as barmaids. Clearly one must be the princess and the other Belboz, but since neither retained any memory of their former selves how could he tell which was which?

  1. He knew a spell which would restore their memories.
  2. He had no way of doing so, but he decided that it didn't really matter. He would choose the one whom he thought to be the prettier, tell her that she was really Princess Frederica, and take her to the prince, whether she wanted to go or not.
