Most of the commissions Stuart got were fairly simple. A chair made of this type of wood, a dresser this tall. Hannah seemed to do okay with writing down orders when he was working or sleeping or out in the town or otherwise unavailable. He always told her to ask him if there was anything that she was uncertain of. She'd only messed up once or twice—true, with very simple things that 95% of people would have no trouble understanding, but still he was proud of her. After Hannah had been with him for two months, he received a commission for twelve chairs. He was excited—chairs were easy, and that many should rack up quite the profit. He worked tirelessly for four weeks on those chairs. Finally, the day came that he'd told the buyer his chairs would be finished. When the man arrived, he stared in anticipation at the room full of chairs for a moment and asked, "So, which ones are mine?" Stuart's smile froze. "These." "But which ones specifically?" "All of them. All twelve." "Twelve?" the man said, aghast. "I asked for two. I've been wondering why two chairs would take so long. I figured they'd just be really good chairs." "You asked for twelve." "I most certainly did not." Slowly they both turned to Hannah, cowering in the corner. "I couldn't remember what he said at all," she said meekly. "And the paper was so dirty it sure looked like there was a one before it... and then you seemed so excited about all the money..." It was, of course, incredibly stupid of Hannah. It was bad, but it shouldn't have been that bad. But the buyer...
