Our hero assembled in his mind all of the items which would best serve him
on his quest and his thoughts rested on the mythic Staff of Fyrus and when
the chest was opened the plain wooden staff lay inside. You know the myth
boy, the chest freely spoke, the staff may only be used by a traveller,
may only be possessed but by a journeyman and if you accept the power of
the staff then you must accept a life of perpetual movement, never to stay
in the same place for longer than a fortnight as I understand it.
Yes, says our hero, I know.
And you accept this fate? The restlessness? It's not too late, you must
strike the staff on the ground 3 times to release the power and make the
staff your own, the chest spoke on and our hero knew it was not so
unusual, what magic can do, and that what the chest said was true.
I will bargain with the staff.
Oh? with a staff? the chest replied.
With my will I will bargain. I will strike the staff on the ground 3 times
and thus inherit this fate if the staff will allow me a final appointment.
With whom?
My responsibilities. I meant to summon a powerful weapon for my quest. I
did not mean to request the position. The Traveller. The Swift Blade of
Balance. The Staff of Fyrus and the stories of it's power! The sand that
remains of the boulders of Titus. It's connection at one end to the wind
and heavens the other to the water and fire of the earth.
What do you do?
