You see, Zenobia eventually decided that Fred was useless without a partner, so she made one—not out of a living person, surprisingly. She was wearing the shoes in the rain when she got them both stuck in the mud. Fred stayed there for fifteen years before a passerby who could detect magic happened across him. She took him to an enchanter, and lo and behold, he was restored! Fred is beaten, worn, and a little muddy-minded from such a long time as a shoe, but he is back and ready to continue his quest. But... Where is Diana? He must find her first!
