The four of them had quite a spirited discussion on the issue. Donald
still claimed that he'd like to "keep an eye" on Stacy, although he seemed
to be a little more trusting of her than he had been at first (presumably
because he'd at least seen how sincerely she was looking for a cure).
Debbie remained fairly passive, but Ed Campbell protested quite loudly at
the thought of missing out on any part of his story. Still, Stacy pointed
out that having all of them descending on the fellow's workplace (and
possibly his home, as well) at the very time of his funeral would be in
questionable taste, to say the least, and eventually she convinced them to
stay behind. Ed grumbled quite a bit, but admitted that he could content
himself with conducting interviews of Donald and Debbie (and Susan, if he
would be permitted to see her at the hospital). That taken care of, Stacy made some phone calls and arranged for plane tickets to LA for herself and Geoff Smith the next day. (Given the state of her finances and Smith's incredible helpfulness, she figured the least she could do was to pay his way to LA.) By this time, it was growing rather late, and after a quick meal, Stacy and Co. all retired to their respective hotel rooms.
