Which Involves Painstaking Labour and Disappointing Results

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 103799

In twenty-two minutes, Zenobia has an empty five-year-old body lying on the floor. She immediately starts gathering up all the mind-mist she can find, and placing it back inside the girl's head.

She has some degree of luck for the first ten minutes. For the next fifty, luck is few and far between. And the final two hours of the search are completely fruitless. She decides she's done, and it's time to let the girl wake up and assess the damage.

When Diana starts talking, she seems fine at first, but her sentences don't quite make sense. There are some words missing quite often; just words that she's forgotten. Random words that she should know, like "drink" and "name" and "work."

When they go to leave the room, Zenobia sees that the girl has forgotten how to open a door. She zones out several times just walking to her room. Zenobia asks her some preschool-level questions, and by her answers and their experiences throughout the remainder of the day, Zenobia discovers there is a long list of thing she doesn't know. What a cat is, where your ears are, how to count to any number, how to use a fork (not even how to hold it properly, she just doesn't even know what a fork does). She's forgotten a few colours, has an attention span of about six seconds, and a couple of times makes spontaneous odd noises in the middle of talking. Zenobia would also not be surprised to find she's forgotten a lot of events of her past, but that's not really relevant.

  1. Zenobia child-proofs the potion room.
  2. Zenobia takes her fake kid to a very powerful wizard to see if he can help.
  3. Zenobia decides it could be worse and just goes on with life.
