In Which there is Much Confusion

Diana is more than a little startled. "Where am I?" she whispers to herself, and her heart almost leaps out of her chest; her voice sounds like it belongs to one much younger than she. Suddenly she comes to the realization that she doesn't quite feel like herself physically either... She spots a mirror on the wall and leaps out of bed to rush towards it. When she sees the little girl staring back at her, she is transfixed. The girl in the mirror has pretty wavy blonde hair that falls past her shoulders, and is something of a mess from her sleeping in the bed. Her eyes are huge and grey, and she is very skinny. She is wearing a white nightgown and no shoes, and around her wrist is a pale purple bracelet. Her face is as adorable as the face of any five-year-old (or however old the girl in the mirror is). Diana blinks, and so does the reflection. She screams. Instantly a woman materializes in the middle of the room... a woman who looks exactly like Diana knows she should. This panics her even more, and she shrieks and dives under the bed covers. "Brigid!" the woman calls, sounding worried. "What happened?" Diana peeks out from under the covers. "What are you?" The woman looks appalled. "Young lady, that is no way to talk to your mother." "Mother?" Diana exclaims, bewildered. "You're not my mother, you're me!" The woman blinks, and she quickly realizes how ludicrous she sounds. Then, suspiciously, she asks, "How did you just appear like that? Are you a witch?" "Feeling funny, are we?" The woman sighs. "Brigid, I don't like it when you do this. I heard a scream, I was worried." "So you are a witch!" "Young lady, do not use that insulting term again. I don't want to have to give you a sleeping potion again." Diana is terribly confused. "You're not my mother," she whines, and is terrified for a moment at how truly childlike she sounds. Suddenly the witch is pouring a green liquid into her mouth. It is sickly sweet and its smell alone overpowered her senses.
