The Never Ending Quest - Episode 103584

That gives the witch pause. Slowly her lips curve into a wicked grin, and Fred wonders in trepidation whether that was a wise response. "Why yes," the witch says in great anticipation, "there is."

Waking up is a quicker process this time around, though Fred can't think why. He is at the height of a man again, at least, for which he is grateful.

Figuring out what has been done to him is quicker this time too, but still rather slow, and the results are even more horrifying.

He is hanging from a rafter and the green room is below him. He feels cold all over, frozen to his very core, and eventually understands that there is a reason for that: he has been turned into an icicle.

"This is your new form, unfortunate knight," says the harsh voice of the witch, whose face is so like Diana's it pains him to see it twist into an expression so cruel. "I know it is not winter, but I thought making you this way would go well with the decor. Don't you think it it a beautiful contrast to all the fire?"

For the first time he notices the multitude of candles burning all over the room, and the lit fireplace, and begins to grow very, very nervous. The witch plucks a candle from a table, strides over to him, and stretches her arms so that its flame just meets his pointy tip. Melting is arguably worse than any agony he has faced; it's a piece of himself slipping away from him.

As his physical shape shrinks, his panic grows, until he can sense nothing but an icy blue colour and a feeling of unbearable, horrible cold. His world becomes a blur, and he knows no more.

When he awakens again, to his surprise he is in human form, though he is stark naked. He is lying on the floor of the green room, and above him is the rafter from which he hung before. He is shivering uncontrollably, and it takes him quite a while to calm his pounding heart and ascertain that he is, miraculously, still alive. He was sure he would be melted into a puddle and be no more.

He thinks at first that the glow from all the green around him is making his skin appear green as well, but on closer inspection he realizes that his skin tone has actually changed. He is green.

"I thought I'd modify you to actually fit the decor," says the voice of the witch, causing him to nearly jump out of his newly green skin. He turns and sees her standing in the middle of the room. A moment later she bursts into peals of unearthly laughter. "Do you realize how panicked you looked? It was priceless! Absolutely priceless!"

It takes Fred a while to regain his powers of speech, but when he does, he says...

  1. "That was terribly uncreative of you."
  2. "Restore and release me at once, hag!"
  3. "Tell me what you have done with Diana."
  4. "Please, no more! I beg of you!"
