Now that did interest Fredwynna. She said: "Release Velus and tell me the spell, and I'll let you go." The witch pointed out: "I can't safely move with your sword at my throat, so I can't untie your friend." Fredwynna replied: "But if I move my sword away, you may be able to cast a spell before I can react. And I can't untie Velus myself whilst guarding you." Stand-off!

Eventually:

  1. Fredwynna decided she had no alternative but to trust the witch.
  2. Princess Astra put in an appearance, introduced herself to Fredwynna, and released Velus. [Has Astra appeared in this branch as yet?]
  3. Hell froze over.
  4. Suddenly, a character from another plotline leaps in!
