So Catherine set out for the Allarian entrance to the Dragon's caves,
because they were closer, and because she could find Charles there. She
considered her situation. She was no longer a ten-year-old girl, having
once more become a beautiful adult woman. She was now no longer helpless,
able to fight again. But she had no weapon, had nothing apart from her
chemise, which had returned to its original size after the melding.
Obviously, she needed a weapon in the Caves of the Dragon. She had to get
one somehow, but how? One thing that became apparent to her is that she would not be able to return to the court of Aqualaria for a long time, perhaps never again. She already had a counterpart there, a child of only ten, and no one would believe her story of being the princess's future self. And when the time came when she had originally left, probably no one in the court would believe that this woman, over ten years older than the one who had left for the Dragon's caves, was the Princess Astra. And in a sense, she was not. She had become someone diffrent, with a new name. She had left Aqualaria on quest for the Dragon partially because she was bored with life at home, in the court of the King of Aqualaria, but now she was feeling somewhat homesick. And she would never see Frederigo again. A part of her felt glad at this, angry at the betrayal by the other Fred, angry at her Fred, despite rationally knowing that he could very well have not become the Oathbreaker--she cursed herself for the oversight of not asking Myrddin wether this was the case. And yet, a part of her would miss him. She pulled her mind back to her present situation. It was getting late, and she needed someplace to sleep. Then, she saw the moon rise. It was...
