The centauricorness had been tapping the glass, wearing a bewildered expression, and her mouth had been moving, though Belboz of course couldn't hear her through the walls of her container, when she suddenly shimmered. In the same instant as her shape changed into that of a mermaid, water rushed into the container from nowhere, filling it to the top. It was the type of result that one would guess straightaway, but would never actually hope to see. And yet there it was! Belboz watched in excitement as the new version of Hannah swam around lazily, blinking as if trying to wake up fully. Her upper half was still that of the beautiful fifteen-year-old girl he had made out of Fred, but her legs had been replaced by a long graceful fish's tail.
