Mer-Hannah?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 10075

Belboz went over his options. The dragon was unable to fit in the cavern, and unlikely to appreciate being asked to volunteer for an experiment - his relationship with it was tenuous, at best. Gryphons were quite rare, and Sphinxes even rarer. And pheonices was almost as dangerous as dragon - moreso, since they were wild, not civilized.

However, there was another option.

With a wave of his hand, he tranformed Hannah's stall into a large glass container, puzzling the already confused centauricorness even more. With another wave, he created a second, identical container directly next to it, filled with seawater. Finally, he reached out to a group which secretly lived off the shore of the kingdom, and plucked up one of their number, depositing her in the second tank.

Belboz smiled as the half-woman, half-fish swam around, trilling her high-pitched song. Mermaids were gentle, passive creatures who posed no threat except to passing sailors. Here, she was no problem at all.

But how would her presence affect Hannah?

Belboz sat back to watch Hannah as she approached the swirling form of the mermaid. As an afterthought, he spelled her enclosure so that if she did transform into a water-breathing creature, it would automatically fill with seawater. After waiting several minutes:

  1. Hannah suddenly transformed into a mermaid.
  2. Hannah suddenly returned to human form.
  3. Hannah began to shift and transform - but into something that terrified Belboz.
  4. It became apparant that the Mermaid was having no effect on Hannah.
