As dangerous as the witch was, Alma was rapidly becoming convinced that staying for a
minute longer with Fred would be a fate worse than death. So she stood her ground as Fred
ran off, dropping his sword--wait a minute, dropping his sword? In the blink of an eye,
Alma grabbed the sword and had it at the witch's neck. She was about to slice off the
stygian hag's head when she had an uncomfortable thought. "Why aren't you fighting back?"
Alma asked.
"Oh, I wouldn't really mind if you killed me," said the hag. "My life's starting to get a little bit monotonous. I mean, enslaving the souls of would-be dragonslayers gets a bit repetitive after the first five hundred or so. I need a new purpose in life." "Hmm," said Alma. "What about... starting a bookshop? There aren't many sources for quality literature down here, and you'll need some businesses to help keep the economy going once the dragon dies." "That's brilliant!" shrieked the hag. "I feel like a new woman. And that half-orc in the next cavern just started a sporting goods store... Why we could be the most profitable economic growth sector in the Ryngeard! Thank you, kind girl!
