| "Just look at what you're doing!" said Fred in Uhura's sternest voice.
"You're Starfleet officers! You swore an oath, or have you forgotten that?
And not only are you abandoning your duty to Starfleet and to your
shipmates, but you're throwing away your own careers! Is that what you
really want?" Nurse Chapel and the female orderly appeared to be listening
to her, though it was hard to tell from their expressions what they were
thinking. She drew a deep breath and kept going. "I know that Starfleet
doesn't actually promote sexual equality as much as it pretends to."
That's right, whispered the insidious little voice inside her mind.
Do something about it. Join them! She ignored it. "But this isn't
the way to go about changing that. Mutiny isn't the answer. It'll only get
you all expelled from the service if you're lucky, and killed if you
aren't. So, please, just put down the weapons. You're not doing yourselves
or your unborn children any good."
