Since he can't eat or drink in this condition, it's the only way to keep his strength up. His metabolism is slower now he's unconscious, but he still needs some nourishment. If he continues like this, I'll have to set up an intravenous drip for him."

"It's clear that we must go back to Livingston IV. I'll return to the bridge and see to it. I'll also initiate surveillance of the full electromagnetic sprectrum. Maybe we can detect whatever means is being used to attack Spock and then work out a way to jam it."

"You're assuming that the attack is coming from outside, Jim. Maybe whatever is attacking him is already in his system. It's true I can't detect anything, but that's not conclusive. He could have picked something up on Livingston IV."
