Enraged, the maddened orgress tears a large bolder from the ground
and hurls it at the staggered Elaine. The oily and plump boy mage only
feels a brief sense of pain and agony and then nothing as the boulder crushes
him from behind!
Now, things could have gotten ugly indeed! The leader of the Amazon
warriors was less than sage about having rocks thrown in her (and her warrior's)
general direction. The fact that the boulder had been only meant for Elaine
was not known, but probably wouldn't have made much difference, anyway.
The ghostly mages and the hamadryad known as Anina knew this well enough,
so that is why they do what they do next.
Those who are able to throw off the effects of powerful slumber spells
find themselves being bound by the very foliage around them rising up and
binding them. With curses and shouts, they then see a flash of light and
a blinding white pain....and then slip into unconsciousness as Anina (seeing
that the plants she's causing to do this) shakes her head and phasors them
asleep.
"Who are you?" Fred the hamadryad asks, looking over at Anina warily.
That worthy question remains unanswered when Jack, having seen the ogress
that he has become.....fond of (to replace the mother and father lost earlier
that very day) comes screaming out of the bushes. It takes a bit of doing
in calming the young child down, telling him that the nice ogress (!) isn't
dead....just sleeping.
