Doctor Who and the Twins of Doom
Endless Perspectives - episode 96363
Melissa and Betty's curiosity overcame their caution, and they set off
towards the village. They had only gone a short distance, however, when
suddenly a noise began which sounded rather like a very poorly maintained
washing machine at the end of its spin cycle. Then a blue box, some eight
feet high and four feet wide, materialised out of thin air. It had a flashing
blue light on top, and the word "Police" painted on it.
Betty recognised it immediately. "It's the TARDIS," she said. "The what?"
asked Melissa, apparently less well informed than Betty on classic SF series
on TV. "The TARDIS," repeated Betty, "Or more correctly, a TARDIS
- Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. In other words, a time machine.
And this one is piloted by none other than the Doctor himself." Melissa
looked at her as if she was insane, but Betty didn't care. She was too
elated at the thought of meeting the Doctor.
The door in the front of the TARDIS opened, and out stepped:
-
A rather irascible-looking elderly man.
-
A jolly man with dark, rather greasy-looking, hair.
-
A man dressed
in rather a dandified fashion, with a shock of white hair.
-
A man with a very long multicoloured scarf, and a hint of Harpo Marx in
his appearance.
-
A pleasant-looking but rather nondescript young man with fair hair.
-
A pugnacious-looking thickset fellow.
-
A man with a slightly clownish look to him.
-
Someone Betty recognised, but it wasn't the Doctor.
-
To Betty's surprise, someone she did not recognise.
